What do we need to know about them

Plastic bags were invented in 1965 by the Swedish company, Celloplast. They became popular in the shopping industry 1982 after Kroger, a Cincinnati-based grocery chain, began substituting their paper bags for plastic bags. Single-use plastic bags provide a cheap and efficient way to transport merchandise. They are affordable, lightweight and flexible. However, their consumption has greatly impacted the environment, starting with their production, a process called blow film.
