Throughout this project I have learned there are many different ways in which an individual can contribute to sustainability and conservation. It seems that almost every action and decision a human makes alters and impacts the environment in some way, especially in a negative way. However, there are many things an individual can do to help mitigate that negative effect. My group members participated in activities ranging from buying certain clothes to carpooling to lowering thermostats. All of which contribute to carbon emissions and with the right adjustments we were able to reduce our carbon footprint. I personally changed my families diet to a lower carbon diet cutting out beef, cheese, milk, and ice cream. This diet is not only helpful on carbon emissions but also turns out to be healthier when substituting the right foods. It feels good to not only eat healthier but to know that in the process we are also mitigating our carbon footprint and furthermore we as a family have also decided to keep this diet going. I hope to in the future convince my friends and extended family of the benefits of this diet so that they can also adopt it and mitigate their carbon footprint as well.
